Paul Cézanne

Landscape near Aix with the Tour de César

1895
modern art

After 1895, when he returned definitively to his hometown Aix-en-Provence in the south of France, Cézanne painted and drew numerous views of the nearby Mount Sainte Victoire. This sunny Provençal scene also shows his native region. At the top of the hill is the Tour de César, viewed from the Bibémus plateau approximately four kilometres north east of Aix
