applied arts & design

This industrially manufactured chair with a sheet metal structure and a fibre-glass seat reinforced with plastic is the result of a collaboration between Gerrit Rietveld and his son Wim. The Mondial was designed in 1958 for the world exhibition in Brussels. This primary red example is from the collection of Sem Aardewerk, who was interior designer and worked with Rietveld on the Dutch pavilion in 1958. The chair has recently been put into production again.
