Ply Chair

1989
applied arts & design

'Less is more' is a much heard slogan in the design world. Jasper Morrison took this slogan very literally and, with the Ply Chair, pushed minimalism to its limits. This elegant dining chair of multiplex is a wonderful example of late 20th century furniture art. The layered construction of the glued veneer acts as a subtle graphic design and even the screws are extremely decorative. The chair was designed for the installation 'Some New Items for the Home' in Berlin and was put into production by Vitra.
