Soft washstand

1965
modern art

As a Pop artist Oldenburg wanted art, '...that does something other than sit on its ass in a museum (...) that embroils itself with the everyday crap'. Initially he copied for everyday objects like food and utensils in plaster and papier mâché. Later his works became larger.and he made numerous soft versions of hard objects, such as this wash basin.
