Ernesto Neto

Celula Nave. It happens in the body of time, where truth dances

2004
Modern art

Ernesto Neto made this installation specially for the main hall of the Boijmans Van Beuningen Museum as part of the exhibition 'Perception of Space' in 2004. The visitor can enter the object. When entering, it seems as if gravity is temporarily suspended. Shapes bob around with each touch, so that the surroundings change constantly. In his works, Neto plays with the various forms of perception, with what is visible and what cannot immediately be perceived. The materials - nylon and polyester, filled with sand - seems like the skin of a body that swallows the visitor.
