Dan Flavin
Untitled
1968
modern art
The American artist Dan Flavin has been making neon sculptures from standardised fluorescent tubes since 1963. The art works are often 'site specific': made for a certain room or the facade of a building. This work was not made for a specific spot, but immediately enters into a relationship with the surroundings. The light of this wall sculpture continues on the wall and thus makes the surroundings more or less part of the image. In this way, the work does not draw attention to the light itself, but rather creates a new experience of the space using light.
