Adam Pijnacker

Italianate landscape

1655 - 1660
old masters

Pijnacker was another Dutchman who fell for the beauty of the south and lived his whole life long from what he had seen during a couple of years in Italy. His manner is bright and sharp, and his trees more decorative than naturalistic. Their twisted shapes are more reminiscent of trees on Chinese porcelain than those you see out of doors.
