city collection
Since 1987, city curators have been working at Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen and these pay particular attention to the visual arts and design produced by people from Rotterdam. They are compiling a City collection. This now contains a thousand objects dating from 1945 until now, produced by Rotterdam artists and designers. In addition, several paintings from the artist federation De Branding (1916-1927) are found in the City collection.
A new city curator is appointed every three to five year to guarantee a fresh view on the developments in the Rotterdam visual arts and design.
